ZigBee Gateway
Our gateways provide computers with a quick, simple and
secure network interface to a ZigBee PAN. Unlike a bridge, which logically
extends a PAN across an internet connection, a gateway provides network
services on behalf of a ZigBee PAN. These services are provided to
network clients using SOAP, an open, well-supported, industry-standard
remote procedure call (RPC) protocol. Software on a computer can call procedures on the gateway
to control or monitor any ZigBee device on a remote PAN.

A PAN equipped with a gateway can be remotely controlled or monitored
with a networked computer and nodes in the PAN can use network resources
anywhere on the internet.
Installation is
quick and easy with Gecko, a Java-based discovery tool.
Production Status
We can only ship devices with custom gateway
protocols until the ZigBee Alliance defines a gateway
standard. As active participants in the Alliance's Gateway Working Group we
expect to follow the standard's progress with our own implementation
and be ready to ship compliant product shortly after ratification.
All Q53s will be upgradeable to this future ZigBee standard.
